When thinking of installing an AC, the First question in your mind comes:
can you install a window air conditioner through a wall?
Installing Window Air Conditioner Through A Wall
Wall AC can be installed even if the room does not provide central air. The installation process is almost identical to the AC window. Here, in five simple steps, there are some different aspects involved in the AC wall installation process.- If you want to install a surface mounting unit, as shown above, check the instructions to see if a wooden frame or support plate is required. If so, it can be purchased locally, done as needed, and installed directly into the wall studs with wooden screws.
- When you’re installing a wall-mounted Air Conditioner, You have to find the best installation point on the wall that covers the entire room. Location defines the AC’s performance If an AC is installed at a location where its air reaches every corner of the room it will cool down the room in no time and you have to find the location for the best appearance. Select the wall portion that does not have internal wiring, pipes, and electrical fittings.

- Always pass the device through the wall within the frame as it helps to support the heavy-duty unit. It is never advisable to allow equipment to come into direct contact with concrete walls, as moisture and the current passing through concrete walls are potential threats. Plywood or wood frames are useful for placing AC devices. Do not force or push any components or part of the standby state unit, as this may cause the device to fail.
- Another appropriate and safe approach is to install the AC housing (box) first and then insert it into the internal AC chassis during installation. This avoids any component damage and only damages the housing if it involves poor thrust or force, making it easier to repair.
- After installing the equipment, seal any open clearance with silicone insulation or notches so that the air conditioning equipment does not come into contact with moisture and warm air.
Precautions
- Do not turn on the main power supply unless the installation process is complete.
- Installing under the window not only makes the holes in the wall-less visible but also ensures that you do not have to install connectors to handle the support load. However, note the power outlet under the window.
- For devices that pass through the walls, keep the back of the unit free of dust, moisture, leaves, grease, etc., as they may not allow your power unit to function properly if these substances are present. The same is true for the external units of the wall-mounted separation AC device.
- Gloves, shoes, and first aid kits must contain items when installing wall air conditioning.
